"What does the IGtH do?"

The Institute for Geotechnical Engineering has been directed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Martin Achmus since 2001.

Central questions of current research at the Institute for Geotechnical Engineering are the bearing behaviour of foundation elements of offshore wind energy converters under cyclic loading, the interaction of earth-buried pipelines with the surrounding soil and the design of salt caverns for oil and gas storage.
